MaxumStone Retaining Walls Expand Property’s Development Capacity
Howard Gardner MI Charter School’s expansion project includes two beautiful MaxumStone block retaining walls by local producer Masters Concrete Products. The school’s new 1,115 sq. m. building, driveway and elevated walkway were constructed on an unused hillside with MaxumStone blocks delivering vital earth retention solutions for the sloped parcel of land.

Gravity Retaining Walls Make the Most of Limited Space
At the driveway’s entrance is a 30.5 m. long gravity retaining wall that protects the school’s brand-new parking area. Despite limited excavation space, a tiered MaxumStone wall is securely nestled below the elevated pedway that links the school buildings.
Block Walls Help Convert Sloped Property into School Extension
The hollow core block design’s angled sides made it easy to install and achieve 90-degree curves at each end of the tiered 3 m. tall wall. Both walls blend into the local landscape and deliver MaxumStone’s trusted durability. Howard Gardner MI is the only charter school in the City of Scranton and each wall will proudly welcome students to its diverse learning environment for generations.
